Skype for Business: Integrating with Highfive

Skype for Business users on Windows have the ability to invite chat contacts to join Highfive video calls. The integration is not currently supported on macOS and Linux.

 

Setting up the integration

  1. Download the Highfive Skype for Business plugin from: https://start.highfive.com/app/skype
  2. Open the HighfiveSkype4BusinessPlugin.msi you downloaded to complete the setup process.

 

Using the integration

 

Inviting from Groups/Contacts

  1. Open Skype for Business.
  2. Right-click on the contact you wish to invite.

  3. Select Invite to Highfive Call.

  4. A new chat window will appear with your contact and a Highfive meeting link automatically posted as a message.

  5. To join the call, both you and your contact can click on the Highfive meeting link. It will open in your default web browser. 

 

Inviting from a chat (Group and Direct messages)

  1. During a chat conversation, click the ... (More options) button in the bottom-right corner of the window. 
  2. Click Invite to Highfive Call.

  3. A Highfive meeting link will automatically be posted as a message.

  4. To join the call, both you and your contact can click on the Highfive meeting link. It will open in your default web browser. 

 

Deploying the integration (optional)

 

The Highfive Skype for Business plugin can deployed via Microsoft Group Policy. Speak with your network administrator about how to complete this process.
