Release 1.25 (8/18/2015)

This update was shipped on 8/18/15. This update includes new features and user interface updates. We recommend getting familiar with the changes before the update, so please feel free to contact us at help@highfive.com.

The feature we’re most excited to deliver is one of the most requested: simultaneous screen sharing and video. Now, when you share your screen, other participants will still be able to see you when you present:

The full list of updates is below. This update will begin the night of Tuesday, August 18. You can expect no more than an hour of downtime starting at 9pm PDT. Highfive desktop apps and devices will automatically update over the following 24 hours, while updates to our mobile apps will be available in their respective app stores.

Highfive App:

  • Updated the in-call UI to bring participants and invite options to the central UI panel to streamline the interface
  • Added live video help and chat support for a sub-segment of customer domains

Highfive Device:

  • Improved and redesigned the process for setting up a Highfive device
  • Added live video help during the set-up process for a sub-segment of customer domains
  • Fixed an issue where the mute icon would occasionally flash on the television screen while using a Highfive device

iOS:

  • If the iOS client leaves a call involuntarily and attempts to rejoin, the call name is pre-populated with the name of the call you just left
  • User’s initials containing emojis are now displayed properly
  • Avatars now join and leave a call appropriately
  • Emails now send correctly when inviting to a room with special characters
  • iOS client no longer generates significant feedback or short sound bursts when joining a call with a Highfive device
  • Copying a link to a call will now encode the URL thus adding support for call names with special characters like emoji
  • Users’ avatars no longer appear cut off after choosing from the photo album
  • Users’ names no longer appear when the avatar is highlighted
  • Fixed an issue where users with weak networks wouldn’t see video when joining a call when the other participants were using the Highfive app on a computer

Android:

  • Added screen sharing
  • Fixed a bug where, after closing the app in a call, you would be placed back into that call after opening the app again
  • Improved video resolution in landscape
