Recommended TV Audio Settings (all brands)

Your TV may come with many great features and enhancements to help process the sound that you hear. This article will show you what we have found to be the optimal setting for most TVs (Panasonic, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, Vizio).

In your TV menu settings, change your audio settings to match the recommended ones below.

Please note: The following settings may or may not be found on your particular model of TV. We recommend that you take a look at the settings on your TV and then locate it on this list. If you have a sound setting that isn't on this list, please let us know so we can update our list!

Panasonic

A.I. Sound: Menu → Audio → Advanced Audio → Set to Low
Surround: Menu → Audio → Advanced Audio → Set to Off 
Distance to Wall: Menu → Audio → Advanced Audio → Set to either Over 1ft or Up to 1ft
TV Speakers: Menu → Audio→ Advanced Audio → Set to On
 HDMI in Menu → Audio→ Advanced Audio → Set to Digital 

Philips

Auto Sound: Home → Setup → Sound → Set to Personal
Auto Volume Leveling: Home → Setup → Sound  → Set to Off
Balance: Home → Setup → Sound  → Set equal balance for Left and Right
Equalizer: Home → Setup → Sound  → Equalizer → Set all values to 0
TV Speakers: Home → Setup → Sound  → Set to On
Mono/Stereo: Home → Setup → Sound  → Set to Stereo
DTS TruSurround:

Home → Setup → Sound  → Set to Off

Digital Output Format: Home → Setup → Sound  → Set to PCM 

Samsung

Sound Mode: Menu → Sound → Sound Mode → Set to Standard
Sound Settings: Menu → Sound → Sound Effect → Set to Standard 
Virtual Sound: Menu → Sound → Sound Effect → Virtual Sound → Set to Off
Dialog Clarity: Menu → Sound → Sound Effect → Dialog Clarity → Set to Off
Equalizer: Menu → Sound → Sound Effect → Equalizer → Set all values in the center 
SRS TruSurround HD: Menu → Sound → SRS TruSurround HD → Set to Off
SRS TruDialog: Menu → Sound → SRS TruDialog → Set to Off
Equalizer: Menu → Sound → Equalizer → Set to Default
3D Audio: Menu → Sound → 3D Audio → Set to Off
Broadcast Audio Options: Menu → Sound → Broadcast Audio Options → Set to Off 
SPDIF Output: Menu → Sound → SPDIF Output → Audio Format → Set to PCM
Audio Delay: Menu → Sound → SPDIF Output → Audio Delay → Set to 0
Speaker Settings: Menu → Sound → Speaker Settings → Speaker Select → Set to TV Speaker
Auto Volume: Menu → Sound → Speaker Settings → Auto Volume → Set to Off

Sharp

Auto Volume: Menu → Audio Settings → Auto Volume → Set to Low
3D Surround: Menu → Audio Settings → 3D Surround → Set to Off 
Clear Voice: Menu → Audio Settings → Balance → Set to Off
Bass Enhancer: Menu → Audio Settings → Bass Enhancer → Set to Off
Output Device: Menu → Output → Select Fixed

Sony

Sound Mode: Home → Settings → Sound → Sound Adjustments → Sound Mode → Standard
Auto-Surround: Home → Settings → Sound  → Auto-Surround → Off
Sound Booster: Home → Settings → Sound  → Sound Booster → Off
Equalizer: Home → Settings → Sound  → Equalizer → Set all values to 0
Voice Zoom: Home → Settings → Sound  → Voice Zoom → Set to 0
Live Football Mode: Home → Settings → Sound  → Live Football Mode → Off
Advanced Auto-Volume:

Home → Settings → Sound  → Advanced Auto-Volume → Off

Volume Offset: Home → Settings → Sound  → Volume Offset → Set to 0

Vizio 

Surround Sound: Menu → Audio → Surround Sound → Set to Off
Volume Leveling: Menu → Audio → Volume Leveling → Set to Off 
Balance: Menu → Audio → Balance → Set to equal Left and Right balance
Lip Sync: Menu → Audio → Lip Sync → Match display image to audio track
Digital Audio Out: Menu → Audio → Digital Audio Out → Set to PCM 
Analog Audio Out: Menu → Audio → Analog Audio Out → Set to Fixed
Equalizer: Menu → Audio → Equalizer → Set to Default
