Release 1.44 (7/12)

We’ve updated Highfive. Changes in this release include:

  • Users can now operate the controls while in a call with the keyboard. Click on '?' to see the shortcuts while in a call. Learn more.
  • Joining a call from your phone no longer requires you to type in the video call name after installing the iOS app. We’ve also made using a headphone during calls more intuitive.
  • Various bug fixes and improvements.

Highfive desktop apps and devices will automatically update over the next 24 hours, while updates to our mobile apps will be available in their respective app stores.

Additional updates include:

General

  • Fixed: Background colors behind the avatars shown during a call are now consistent.
  • Fixed: An issue that caused the “video no longer sending” notification to appear when the device is disconnected or reset while still in a call.
  • Fixed: An issue that caused form error messages to not align with the field that caused the error.
  • Fixed: An issue for new Google accounts without photos that doesn't prompt the user to upload a photo during signup.
  • Fixed: A signup issue that caused the validation email link to expire too fast.
  • Fixed: An issue that caused an error when clicking on a calendar event multiple times.
  • Fixed: An issue that caused the "Poor connection" message to appear unexpectedly.
  • Fixed: An issue that caused declined calendar events to show in the app.
  • Fixed: An issue that caused form error messages to not align with the field that caused the error.

  • Improved: Long meeting names and multi-person Slack group names are now truncated to make the invite panel easier to use.  

iOS

  • Fixed: An issue that caused the error message that appears when the network disconnects to not automatically disappear when the network reconnects.
  • Fixed: An issue that didn't prompt guest to re-try while joining a call in case their connection times out.
  • Improved: Users joining with headphones no longer start a call with their speakers and microphones muted.
  • Improved: Added a message so you know when your speakers and microphone have been muted when joining a call
  • Improved: Joining a call from your phone no longer requires you to type in the video call name after installing the iOS app.

Windows

  • Fixed: A styling issue that caused the options to configure mic/speakers/camera to appear invisible.
  • Fixed: Layout issue that caused the control bar to be in front of the invite panel.
  • Fixed: Long calendar event titles are no longer cropped.
