We’ve updated Highfive. This release contains a significant number of fixes and improvements. Changes in this release include:

  • Laptop users that need to join a call using their phone can now get a dial-in number from any browser without needing to install the app.
  • First time users will have an easier time joining a call or installing the app due to more intuitive messaging and fewer options that get in the way.
  • Screen sharing from the application home screen to a TV that is being used for a call now add you to the right call automatically rather than requiring you to first join the call.
  • Meetings will no longer be interrupted by the sounds of people entering and leaving calls, the screen saver turning on or the display turning off.
  • International users in Hong Kong, Australia, Brazil, Israel, Portugal, Italy can now get local numbers when they need to join a call on a phone.
  • Windows users on laptops with resolution settings greater than 1920x1280 can use an in-app magnifier to increase the size of the Highfive window so that all buttons are accessible and video feeds display correctly. Learn more
  • Fixed a Mac issue that caused screen sharing to disconnect from a TV when the App Nap setting paused the application. The app will need to be re-installed.
  • Various bug fixes and improvements.

Highfive desktop apps and devices will automatically update over the next 24 hours, while updates to our mobile apps will be available in their respective app stores.

General

  • Fixed: An issue that caused a call to disconnect if the camera never produces video due to a laptop being in clamshell mode or if the camera drivers have a problem.
  • Fixed: An issue that caused pasting a call link as the name of a video call to break for accounts with custom domains.
  • Fixed: A race condition that caused service instability and disconnected calls.
  • Improved: Shortened the reconnect time window to reduce the chances of users accidentally sharing their laptop screen to a TV after leaving a meeting.
  • Improved: Screen sharing from the application home screen to a TV that is being used for a call now add you to the right call automatically rather than requiring you to first join the call.
  • Improved: Guest users should have an easier time joining a video call or sharing their laptop screen to a TV while visiting your office due to more intuitive messaging and fewer options that get in the way.

  • Improved: We've added a button to enable users to start the application from the browser in case the application doesn't start automatically after installation or while joining a call.
  • Improved: Users now know which meeting they've been invited to because the meeting name has been added to the email invitations that are sent from the invite panel in a call.
  • Improved: International users in Hong Kong, Australia, Brazil, Israel, Portugal, Italy can now get local numbers when they need to join a call on a phone.
  • Improved: Users that choose to use an OS version that is higher than the one officially supported by Highfive now get prompted with a warning that allows them to continue using the application at their own risk.
  • Improved: Your meeting should no longer be interrupted by the screen saver turning on or the display turning off while in a call.
  • Improved: Your meeting should no longer be interrupted by the sound of users entering and leaving a call; a notification will be shown to all participants.
  • Improved: Anyone can now join a call using their phone by getting the dial-in number from a browser rather than having to install the app. Learn more
  • Improved: The 'move to TV' keyboard shortcut is now "t" instead of "m" to avoid confusion with muting. Learn more

Mac

  • Fixed: An issue that caused screen sharing to disconnect from a TV when the App Nap setting paused the application. We recommend that Mac users uninstall then install to ensure they get the proper setting.
  • Fixed: An issue that caused the full audio mute notification to appear after moving a call from the TV to the laptop when there is no one else in the call.
  • Improved: Added support for MacOS Sierra.

Windows

  • Improved: Users that need to use a TV for a meeting can now browse an alphabetical list to find the TV name faster if their laptop doesn't support Bluetooth.
  • Improved: Added an in-app magnifier to enable users impacted by Windows 10 font scaling on high resolution laptops to increase the size of the Highfive window so that the application is more usable. The magnifier appears when the resolution setting is greater than 1920x1280. Learn more
  • Improved: Added support for Microsoft Edge browsers.

Device

  • Fixed: An issue that caused some TVs to not automatically switch inputs after a call is moved from a laptop or a mobile phone to a TV.
  • Fixed: An issue that caused the time to sometimes be incorrect on the idle screen.
  • Fixed: An issue that sometimes caused the device to not acquire an IP address on certain networks.

Dolby

  • Improved: Admins can now view info for Dolby speakers in the dashboard. Dolby speaker info includes: version, IP/Mac address and serial number.

iOS

  • Fixed: An issue that caused the app to disconnect from a call if moving the call to a TV failed.
  • Fixed: An issue that caused avatars to show a muted icon when they weren't muted.
  • Fixed: An issue that caused avatars that were using a TV to not be grouped correctly with the device.
  • Fixed: An issue that caused the application to crash when users attempted to join a call while on a phone call.
  • Fixed: An issue that caused the app to crash when the camera is in use and a guest tries to take a photo.
  • Fixed: An issue that caused a user to show up twice in a call if they click on a call link more than once in a short period of time.
  • Fixed: An issue that showed a mobile user in the waiting room after they had been disconnected due to the Highfive app timing out.

Android

  • Improved: International Android users can now get local dial in numbers when they need to join a call using their phone. Learn more
